In regards to my last “get my writing published” entry:
1. haven’t heard back from aSID
2. accepted into Dark Reveries for their Halloween issue
3. 86 Magazine is no longer publishing
... SO, not bad. At least I haven’t been rejected… from this group… so far.

Submitted poetry to aSID (http://www.asidmagazine.com/) and Dark Reveries (http://www.darkreveries.com/) and inquired about the status of 86 Magazine (http://86magazine.com/) so that, if it’s still being produced, I may write for it.
We’ll see.

Recieved my paycheck for the poem published in Writers Notes #5 a couple of days ago along with a copy of the magazine itself… it’s more like a book periodical, since it has paperback binding and everything. They spelled my name incorrectly on the back cover, but correctly on the actual poem’s page. So, I’m simoltaneously happy and irritated. More poems published soon?
I need to create a “resume” of published works so that the grad schools to which I apply will know that I’m not a newbie.

Eh, I’m still wary of this self-publishing thing. I got a reply email from the guy who used AuthorHouse and he said he’d definitely recommend it to others trying to publish something that could become dated fast (like books about current events or politics, etc) but to try the “traditional route” for things like novels and poetry.

I found a 48 hour publishing/printing website early this morning and now I can’t find it again. Maybe I was just dreaming of something so cool. Damn it.
EDIT 5/20/06: the website is http://www.48hrbooks.com

Found an alum from my college who’s published a book recently through AuthorHouse (http://www.authorhouse.com/) and have contacted him about the ups and downs of self-publishing. He hasn’t gotten back to me yet, but hopefully he will soon.
Is self-publishing = vanity-publishing?

I submitted a bunch of my poetry to Writers Notes Magazine (http://www.writersnotes.com) and they liked one!!!! YAY. They’re going to buy it for one issue and after we’ve worked things out, I’m going to sign a contract and get paid.
WOO HOO. I’m a paid writer, baby!
