be a foster parent

I found a group on campus that works with mentoring and tutoring foster children. Since I’m closer to their age than adults, hopefully I can get to know how they think before I grow up and foster kids of my own.

I’m not really old enough to marry, let alone foster, but I’ve dreamed of being a foster parent for a while. I’m not very exposed to it, but I do understand that many of the children are difficult. This would be especially hard for me because, despite being one of six children, I care too much about people hating/liking me. I don’t want my future foster children to hate or get angry with me, even though I know it’s always a possibility.

No matter what, I’m not giving up on this goal! I’ll learn to be callous if I have to, but I really want to be the one who keeps each child until they turn 18. I want to pour out all the love I have and hopefully help them into college or wherever they want to go in life.
