Today is my day off and I have time to putter around in this room. I’m continuing to work through the laundry issue. Today, I decided to work through some piles. I have a pile of books/papers on my headboard, beside my bed and on my dresser (YIKES!). They have to go!
I need to purge my books (and some other posessions) in here and let some of them go to goodwill.
As I was contemplating this space today, I decided to make a list of elements I really want this room to contain.
Here the list so far:
1. a cozy, relaxing (and romantic) sleeping area that matches hubby’s and my personality. That area would include: a place for books (we both love to read in bed), a place for items that keep romance in our bedroom (music, lotions, candles, etc.), soft sheets & good quality pillows that help us relax and sleep well.
2. neat and functional clothing storage for hubby and myself: hubby and I both have a dresser in this room. Hubby’s closet is also in this room.
3. Blanket/Sheet storage for the whole household: I have a cupboard and blanket chest in this room that stores blankets and sheets for all the beds in the house.
4. TV cubby: I have a great built in TV cubby that hold a TV/DVD combo set. When it is not in use, we just shut the door and it is out-of-sight. Hubby and I like to snuggle in and watch a movie in bed together now and then. I do not presently have a designated place to keep DVD’s. They just get laid down on the dressers. Need to remedy this.
5. New purchases being considered:
*possibly a new bedding set. I’ve never really liked the set we’re using right now. It was a gift from Christmas a couple of years ago. I think I’ve used it long enough now to not offend the giver:) The trick is to not get anything too frilly. Hubby is not a big “floral” fan. Our carpet is a darker(almost navy) blue. I recently saw a modern looking blue/tan set that I liked. I may check that out.
*possibly new curtains-ours are looking pretty dated
*possibly a new coat of paint. (I would love a warm tan/taupe.)
