And the amazing thing is I can really hear the difference in my voice. I’m going to perform Sebben Crudele (24 Italian Arias) and Tonight (West Side Story), and Panis Angelicus with another one of my voice teacher’s students. The girl’s name is Jessica, and she is amazing- she really sounds like an opera singer. It is really encouraging to know that I could sound like that in a year or two.

But I’m not satisfied yet, so I’ll be leaving this one up here. My range has improved and I have a better understanding of how to sing, in short, a trained voice. But I still have a lot more to learn before I’ll have a great voice- although I did make it to a high D the other day, and was pretty happy.
Missed my last lesson- I feel awful- I’ll have to call and schedule a new one. Currently working on three songs- “She’s like the Swallow”; a Canadian folk song, “Once Upon a Dream”; from the Broadway show Jekyll and Hyde, and “Far From the Home I Love”; from Fiddle on the Roof. So far I like Once Upon A Dream best, although it stretches my bottom range.
Wow, I’d forgotten how much I hate calling people I don’t know- still, I called a wonderful voice instructer in my area, and set up a lesson for thursday morning at 10:45. I am so excited and elated! This is amazing how good it feels to actually go through with this- typically I only say I am going to do something, then I procrastinate forever. I am so excited! This feels so empowering- it is the first thing I’ve taken the initiative to set up for myself by myself. Until then, I will be singing in the car…
I guess I need to start by finding a teacher- I’ll try to accomplish that today
