Watch the annual Geminid meteor shower! The shower should be at its peak December 13th. The Geminids are the most reliable meteor shower of the year and are characterized by their multi-colored display—65% being white, 26% yellow, and the remaining 9% blue, red and green.
The shower is best from about 9 or 10 p.m. local time until the Moon rises around 1 or 2 a.m. Find a dark spot with an open view of the sky. Bundle up warmly, lie back in a reclining chair, and gaze up into the stars. The best direction to watch is wherever the sky is darkest, probably straight up. You may see a meteor once every minute or two. (If it’s cloudy tonight, the shower is also active for a day or two before and after its peak.)
