Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

5K

So I am entering Race for Life this summer and it’s a 5k charity race so I need to be able to run 5k before doing this race. I’ve got until June to get into shape and get fitter for this but now I have a race/goal to work towards with this goal so it will push me into my running more and give me something to train for and aim for.



I want to...

....be able to do this by the end of the second week in September. It’s pushing it to be ready for the half marathon to be honest and I could do with doing this by the end of the month but I only have 8 days and will only run 5-6 times in total and I can only manage 20 metres at the moment so I don’t know what I am going to do. I am going to exercise daily from now on. Walkign and running and bike riding and exerucise DVD is what I will be using on the days I don’t run and even on the days I run I will try and do one of those and I think also when I come back in from a run I should have a big drink and go on my exercise bike even if it’s only for ten minutes.



I haven't.....

...been running in ages. I got ill and then when I wasn’t ill I didn’t go running. I have been spending way too many hours sat on the computer in the evenings and need to get out and start trying to run again. I have a half marathon in October so I need to get started before it’s too late.
So this goal is perfect for me and I hope I can do it in about 6 weeks and then be able to do the 10K 2-3 weeks later. I am looking forward to it. It is a lot tougher than people think and I am very unfit so it was harder for me but I was running 200metres without stopping which is pretty good. It will take time and effort but I want to do it so it makes it slighly easier because I am determined to be able to run.
