About two weeks ago, it was finally cold enough for the pond in the park to freeze over. When I first saw the large pond, I imagined how much fun it would be if it would freeze over in the winter and I could go skating there, but three winters have since passed with no ice!
So just before christmas I went ice skating for the first time in years. I don’t even remember when I last skated on anything but artificial ice. I think the last time was when I was ten. (That’s twelve years ago!)
The ice was only solid enough for skating for about two days, and then the temperature rose again. Now all the ice is gone. Winter has only just started and I hope this will be a cold one, so I can go skating more often. Though if it’s anything like the past years I should try out the local indoor skating rink instead of waiting for ice that isn’t coming.
