On Saturday afternoon, I attended the culminating worship service for a special workshop that was offered by our church. I took part singing with the choir. I enjoyed the event and got to hear our moderator give the message, too. The man seems so down to earth and has faced serious personal illness during his tenure.

Our Christian modern rock band played two songs in church today for Palm Sunday. I think the spirit moved us.
We had a guest vocalist sing, “Above All.” (Michael Smith) L has such a powerful and lovely voice. Her emotions gush out in her singing. :) For our second song, Peter and I sang “By His Wounds” (Mac Powell and Third Day). We were happy to be able to be a part of the worship service.
This week marked my first week back to work after being off for a little while, because of a foot infection. My foot is healing and I’m finished the IV antibiotics. I didn’t think going back to work would make me happy, but in a way, it’s nice to get back into the routine. I just wish I didn’t have to deal with my 17 year-old’s antics at the same time!
Thanks again to everyone who gave me support here on 43Things. You people are wonderful! :)

Thank you so much, Mary Hawkins, for giving me my 15,495th received cheer! ;)
Although our canine member of the family is starting to slow down a little bit compared to when he was age 2 or 3, we have received so much enjoyment from having our spoiled “Buster” around! Soon, we will have had Buster in the household for 6 years. This morning, it was fun for the two of us to cuddle with him in bed, all of 5’ long, with his long legs stretched out and enjoying every minute of attention!
Last Tuesday, July 1st, we celebrated Canada Day by attending an outdoor concert, followed by some fantastic fireworks! The band playing that night was April Wine, a very popular Canadian band from the 70s, lol. The show started off slowly, but picked up speed to a great ending! Way to go guys!

Got to the GoodTime Center before 5pm and picked up my 498 lb. mid-life crisis solver this afternoon. Despite the heavy traffic, I enjoyed driving it home and even got to practise the clutch with all the starts and stops. I needed to practise, as I hadn’t driven the bike since last November. My, I had forgotten how loud it is over 60 miles an hour! ;) That customized Vance and Hines exhaust “almost” makes it sound like a Harley. I say “almost” because nothing made in Japan sounds like a Harley.
I hope to drive my bike much more often than last year and I want to take it up to our trailer site, too, on weekends.
I want to thank some of my close 43T friends for helping make me happy and putting me in the frame of mind to be the best person that I can be.
A friend of mine plays bass in a “cover” band. They were playing at a local restaurant / road house last night and it was a great time. We stayed for two of their three sets. One of the songs they played, was by a Canadian folk singer, turned environmentalist soft-rocker, Bruce Cockburn. The song was one of his very early songs with blues roots, “Mama Just Wants To Barrelhouse, All Night Long.” As I said, a very fun evening.
(From Night Vision album, 1973)
I was up the road on easy street
Watching everybody stand around and cheat
A man comes up and says,
“Move along Down to the corner where you belong”
But mama just wants to barrelhouse all night long
I hear the city singing like a siren choir
Some fool tried to set this town on fire
TV preacher screams “come on along”
I feel like Fay Wray face to face with King Kong
But mama just wants to barrelhouse all night long
I hear the city singing like a siren
Sometimes I wonder what I am I feel like I’m living in a hologram
It doesn’t seem to matter what’s right or wrong
Everybody’s grabbing and coming on strong
But mama just wants to barrelhouse all night long
