It was interesting reading up on everyone’s favourite places to visit and stay overnight. :)

Beautiful West Québec Resort, Gray Rocks Inn. 3 years ago

Thanks, Stacey, for inviting me to join in on this. Quite a few years ago, when I was in my late 20s, one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed at is the Gray Rocks Inn and Resort. My wife and I booked almost a full week there, with another couple, my best friend and his wife. It was quite a wonderful time. The gals didn’t golf much back then, so during two or three of the days, the boys played golf at Gray Rocks’ tough and excellent mountain style golf course, while the women went horseback riding, visited the lakefront beach and did other activities. Of course, on other days, we all did activities together.

In the evenings, we would all come back to the hotel for a fabulous gourmet dinner in the Gray Rocks famous dining room. Each night, we would have the same waiter. We got to know him and he, us. It was really fun dining there and trying different delicious meals.

That week was also my first experience riding in a small plane (6 passenger Cesna). We took the 1/2 hour plane tour around the mountains and the views were amazing. It was fun discovering the small lakes that were carved out of the side of the mountains around the Mont Trèmblant area. What wasn’t so fun was the air turbulence near the mountains. One minute we’d be fine, then we would drop 100 feet in 2 seconds or rise the same distance in the same amount of time. When we landed, my best friends’ wife and I were both feeling pretty green, hahaaha….

Other than the side effects of the plane ride, the entire week was a very enjoyable experience and the food was incredible. I would love to go back sometime, soon.

I should mention that some of the rooms are not large and may seem kind of quaint, rather than luxurious. Just remember that it’s not the most expensive Laurentian resort. Gray Rocks is currently celebrating their 100th year anniversary, so you know the main section of the original hotel is fairly old. Given that the rooms are smallish, there are still some very luxurious areas throughout the resort.

Gray Rocks has complete hotel/food and activity packages, in both Summer and winter, depending upon whether you like to play golf or tennis; or if you are a skier. Go ahead and browse this link below to visit the website. The resort is located about 1.5 hours north of Montréal.
