ING interest for the year of 2008

I did very well with my ING Savings this year. Here’s a breakdown of the interest earned for my accounts. Note that the names and order of the account have shifted around a lot since the beginning of the year.

Home Fund: 15.40$
Bills: 8.99$
Charity: 3.98$
Me Myself I: 2.08$
Vacation: 0.03$
RRSP: 4.68$
TFSA Security fund: 9.16$ (see my entry on double interest)

Total interest for the year:
44.32$

Which brings me under the total taxable amount of 50$, phew

Total snowflakes for the day

204.50$

Now I thought I had mentioned the way I was going to divide my snowflakes, but I can’t seem to find it, so here it is (again)

40% Security fund
15% Home Fund
15% Me Myself I
15% Vacation
10% Blow
5% Charity

Here’s how the numbers actually worked out this time:

Planned
40% Security Fund 81.8$
15% Home Fund 30.68$
15% Me Myself I 30.68$
15% Vacation 30.68$
10% Blow 20.45$
5% Charity 10.23$

Actual:

23.43% Security Fund 47.91$
15.13% Home Fund 30.94$ (Treating the island)
35.87% Me Myself I 73.36$ (Winter boots)
0.00% Vacation 0$ (Not really a priority right now)
20.48% Blow 41.88$ (Lunch/supper out, new chain, tights)
5.09% Charity 10.41$

Freezer check

Just got the check for 60$ for the freezer today.

Called my old address and they said that I have two letters:

-One from Revenue Quebec, which is the check I was expecting for about 140$
-One from Revenue Canada, which is unexpected and I’m hoping is them correcting a mistake when I got my refund. Or at least not a bill.

Going to pick those up later today. Go snowflakes! I like the money kind better than the ones that are on the street right now.

+40$

Got the 40$ from my friend for being his temporary secretary.

I think that I’m going to go shopping for clothes, as there is this second hand place that is having a 50% sale. Yay…

Freezer recycled!

Hydro Quebec has this great program where they’ll pay for you for an old fridge/freezer and then recycle it.

Here’s the exciting part…

Originally paid for freezer: 30$
Received in payment for freezer: 60$
Woo-hoo!

-Okay I know I’m not calculating electricity cost over the last 4 years of running the thing, but let’s not be nitty-gritty

Temporary secretary

Yes, that IS a reference to the Paul McCartney song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdTs-iLBKME which is so bad it’s good!

I got my friend a job at the office right next to mine and it seems it’s paid off :) He asked if I could be a secretary for his office after I work on Thursday. It will involve staying up after my 0-8 shift, but they’re paying, so it’s a snowflake for a week I’m only working 3 shifts, so it will help me put some money back into my budget, which I had to slash for that week.

Changing slightly

Changing the name of this goal to reflect the fact that the debt is SOON paid off… tomorrow!

Another economic study

CIRANO runs economic and other types of studies on an somewhat irregular basis. They do invitations by

...we interupt this post to announce that the Baker Street song (Dave Ramsey’s theme song) just came on the radio…
we now bring you back to your regularly scheduled 43T post…

email every so often and offer a couple of scheduling options which usually fit into my schedule and their office is right by work, so it’s great to do after a night shift.

They guarantee 10$ just for showing up for two or less hours and an “average of 20$ depending on your choices.” They’re generally fun experiments, depending on your skills, luck and other people’s choices. I’ve done stuff like:

-Watching news clips and evaluating if they were positive or negative
-Putting up bids for building fake computers vs other users and based on variable costs
-Based on probablities and odds, choosing which set of odds(safe vs risky) you would bet on ( This was the one I made the most at for the least amount of time: 20 minutes)
-Correcting french texts (This was the one I HATED the most)
-Voting
-Data entry

But most of the time I just bring a book, push a key on a computer every so often and read my book the rest of the time.

So it’s a nice little snowflake here and there.

So I signed up for a study on Tuesday :)

PS: If you’re in Montreal and you’d like to sign up, please let me know and I’ll send you the link.

Melted snowflake

So I ended up getting the $10 from the book sales (minus the $1 reclaim fee) and it ended up just getting spent in day to day stuff. Moving and etc related expenses, especially in the eating out just seem to be eating away at my budget.

3$ Yay!

Just finished selling that three dollar book. I don’t get to pick up my textbook funds until the 8th, so that won’t be really going towards my apt fund.

Kinda sucks that I spent 35$ last night cabbing in to work and was STILL late but these such things happen I suppose.
