without it, there will be no grave on the headstone.
:(
I need to write another letter sending another form, his possibly got lost in the post, the irish postal service is not known for it’s reliability, in complete contrast to the Royal Mail in the UK.

I posted out the letters with the forms, and with copies of family photo’s I’ve scanned in :)
This has taken me over a year to achieve, and I am so proud of myself for doing this. I don’t care what the result will be, I’m just happy for now that I’ve done what I needed to do.

The last week I was under the weather physically, so didn’t get a lot done.
I’ll focus on this again over the next few days :-)

a letter to send to my siblings, I’ll leave it until monday then edit if necessary and send out next week.
I feel anxious about this, but I have no control about how they’ll react, I just hope it won’t delay getting a headstone erected.

to the Funeral Director today, he was very helpful adn suggested some good wording for letters I’m going to send out. FIngers crossed there will be no objections and we can get a headstone erected in memory of my mum and dad.
As I was talking to Jon, the funeral director I realised how much this really means to me. I want a headstone my dad would be happy to see, and I really think that means including either the cap badge, or british legion emblems on it.

hit a snag on this one. The grave is registered in my mum’s name, because my dad died years ago. now I can’t have the headstone erected until the grave is transferred into somebody (living) else’s name. No problem, but to do that all of the next of kin have to sign forms of no objection, which I think my be a problem!!!!! I need to just send out the forms and see…

cemetry yesterday to look at the traditional wording and get some ideas, I want it to be something my dad would be happy with. I also thought about putting an engraving of a poppy on it, but now I’m not sure… possibly his cap badge or the badge of the British Legion, I really don’t know. I think it would be nice on one hand, on the other hand my mum wasn’t in the army, and my dad was more than just a soldier… mmm… I need to be thinking about this one, because I can’t change my mind once it’s done, it literally will be carved in stone! :-)
