NASA is looking for contractors to take over the space shuttle runs to the space station. That means that by 2010, the shuttles will be commercial, or they’ll be extinct. I find that very disturbing. I knew that space wasn’t going to remain a government area forever, but I also didn’t really believe that it would happen in my lifetime.

Still, if a commercial company takes over the runs, at least there’s a continuing opportunity to see the launches.
