find work I'm passionate about

I have been reading that gifted kids can “drop out” of school if they aren’t challenged enough. That is essentially what I have done with my career. Also my job has to match my values or I get really frustrated. I gave up my career when I hit a ceiling, got bored, and was not learning new things. My job as a cashier now is getting boring fast. I think I was underachieving when I chose my first career. Now I am not sure what to do. I know I need challenges but not sure I want to spend the money to go back to university again. I try to find challenges outside work but still need more.

The part-time job still feels right. Doesn’t pay all the bills but I get by. My life feels balanced with an occasional art class and regular yoga. When I start dreaming about a career change now I think about studying psychology. This is something I have considered many times before in my life. The next step may be to take a psychology course for fun.

A step towards work I am passionate about. A big step. Away from well-paying stressful career to part-time job and taking an art class. Funny thing, I love the part time job. People are great. It is very different from my previous job in that I get to meet people all day. Before I was creating behind a computer which should have been great for me. I guess I am still learning things about myself. Not sure if I will ever find work I am really passionate about but at least I have learned how to make change in my life. That feels good.
