learn to use a sewing machine

I’ve made a few projects, but I don’t feel comfortable with the sewing machine yet. I still have the most fun hand sewing little felt and sock dolls. I’m still intimidated and I need to get over it because I already spent $300 on a sewing machine.

I bought a sewing machine a few weeks ago. So far the only project I have attempted was a felt stocking. I need to clean it because felt makes it dusty. I can’t procrastinate about cleaning it.

The stocking is boxy. I did clip, but I sewed too close to the edge. I’m okay with it since it is the very first thing I have made. Well, aside from the Mister Green finger puppet. Look at my flickr if you want to see him. ;) I wanted the sewing machine for Christmas crafts and I have ended up hand sewing most of them, but they needed to be detailed. The stocking would have been annoying to hand sew, so I am happy to have it done. I’ll probably end up making a nicer one next year. It is for my boyfriend. I’m still really excited to have this sewing machine. When I have mastered it I have so many ideas buzzing about in my brain that only want for sewing machine talents.
