I realy should go for a walk tonight 18 months ago

it is absolutely beautiful out (unlike the last three severely-stormy nights). But I’m really sleepy, plus my feet hurt, and I took my shoes off when I came in, before remembering that I wanted to walk. And now I don’t want to put them back on. So maybe I’ll just go to bed. :-9



I'm overdue for an entry on this, since I haven't made one since October. 18 months ago

I was really hoping to start back at the gym, once the nasty winter weather was behind us. However, the escalating gas prices have kind of put a kink in that plan (it’s 20+ miles each way to the gym). I really miss it, though, so I trying to figure out a way to work it out.

I am managing to get some exercise, though. My teammate, Bella, and I are walking almost every day (weather permitting), plus I’m getting additional workouts via my gardening and yard work.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to the gym, for several very legitimate reasons. But I AM going TODAY, in just a few minutes!!!

Today on the treadmill I selected “weight loss” program rather than just going at own pace. I was mainly interested in knowing how my heart rate compared to what “they” recommended. Even though over the past 3 weeks I haven’t been walking that fast, apparently I was going too fast to be in the optimum range for weight loss (according to my age and weight). So I’ll be going a little slower and watching to see how that helps my overall performance.



3 weeks of going to the gym 2 years ago

and I can truthfully say this goal is going GREAT!!!

I’ve been doing cardio and (light) strength training 3x per week, plus an additional day or two of just cardio. I’m up to 20 minutes on the treadmill and an additional 13 minutes on the nu-step.



I missed a couple of nights of walking... 3 years ago

because I let myself get too busy (and too tired) doing my other stuff, but Bella and I went out again tonight. I finally remembered to time myself, and I only walked for 15 minutes, so my next goal is to try and get a couple more blocks in so I’m walking 20 minutes.



I've gone out walking the last 3 nights! 3 years ago

Granted, the 2nd night I only walked 2 blocks, because it was starting to lightening, but still, I tried!!! Last night I went out tooearly (9:30) and it was way too hot and MUGGY and I could hardly breathe by the time I got home. So tonight I was planning on going a little later—BUT it just started storming, so NO GO :(

I am also trying to get back into my handweights, with a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, schedule, so I guess that means tonight’s the night—storm or no storm!!!



Hand weights 3 years ago

I had stopped doing my hand weights until I talked to the neurologist. But I’m cleared to do any exercise I want to do, so I am back in the game (hopefully 3x a week).

Walking is still pretty limited, since I have trouble getting my tennis shoes on lots of the time, and when I do, my feet get pretty uncomfortable when I’m in them for long. :(
