Holiday Cards 2008 12 months ago

It’s that time of year again, and if any of you who participate in this fun exchange last year want to do it again, and haven’t yet adopted the goal, you might want to mosey on over HERE and add it to your list now. Then you’ll just need to let me know if your information is all the same, or if there are any changes. I plan on sending out the first set of names later this week.

Going...going...GONE! 22 months ago

I finally got the last of my cards in the mail today. I had all but a few of them done last week, but I had to go in search of a few cards to finish them up. Everyone should get a card from me. I even managed to get some cards sent to 43thingers who weren’t an official part of the exchange. Hopefully they will all arrive at their destinations safe and sound – it’s always fun anticipating people checking their mailboxes and finding something besides bills.

For those of you who missed it in my last post, the picture(s) I included are of the ice storm that was going on while I was being taken to the hospital and were taken by my sister while she was here, out at my family’s farm (about 4 miles from my house).

P.S. If you were part of the exchange and didn’t get a card from me, please let me know, so I can get one sent to you.

It's a start! 22 months ago

I finally got 25 cards mailed out. It would have been more, but I seem to have a case of missing envelopes. So, I bought some more, but they’re too small. I’ll either find the missing ones or buy some more very soon.

Edit: I forgot to say, the picture(s) I included were taken by my sister while she was here when I was in the hospital. It was taken 2 days after the ice storm hit (the one that was going on when I was taken to the hospital), out at my family’s farm.

Another edit: I also have to buy more cards. I knew I didn’t have enough, but several trips (and stays) to the hospital in December kind of made me forget about buying any more.

Thank you, everyone 23 months ago

if you sent me a card, I’m sure I’ve received it. I was 2 days behind on posting thank yous when I went in the hospital; now I’m two weeks behind, so at this point I’m not going to even try to catch up. My sister and dad were quite amazed at all the Christmas cards I was getting in the mail – I briefly explained that they were from people I knew on an Internet site (and tried to keep all the ones labeled “Flirt” out of their sight). My sister loved all the beautiful (International) stamps (I guess I need to ask her if she would like them) and my dad really liked BlueSkies (I think) handmade card.

Obviously, I’m a little behind in all my Christmas preparations. I’ve started on my family and friends Christmas cards. As soon as they’re done I’ll start on 43things. It would be nice to get them all done before my sister and nephew arrive on Christmas day, but right now I’m focusing on getting my tree up (got it today) and decorated.

Just a reminder: 2 years ago

With the large number of participants this year (95+ so far, compared to 32 last year), I think it’s important to remind everyone of one of the rules of the exchange.

You do NOT need to send cards to everyone on the list. You can send to one person, to 95 people, or to any number in between.

Many people may choose to send to everyone, but it can get quite expensive (especially those of you who don’t live in the U.S. and have scores of us to send to at the international postage rate) and some people are on very limited budgets. So please, everyone, do only what you want to do and can afford to do (and have the time to do).

FYI, I’ve copied the information from my original post, just in case any of you missed it and want to have all the info. Since I gave Nov. 30th as the cut-off date, I’ll stick to that, so be watching for a few more names at the end of the week (I got 2 more today).

  • If you’re interested in sending cards to other 43thingers, you send me your information through 43messages or e-mail, and I’ll compose a list of all the participants.
  • The information I’ll need for the list is: :
    1. Your 43Things name and your real name (IF you want it included on the list);
    2. Your complete mailing address; and,
    3. Your e-mail address (I won’t give it out to anyone).
  • I’ll send everyone a list, and each person can choose who on the list they want to send cards to. You do not have to send cards to everyone on the list, but you can if you want to.
  • Hopefully, by using the term “holiday”, we are including everyone, no matter what your race, religion, or country of origin. You can send a Thanksgiving card (although the list won’t be out by then), Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year’s, or whatever holiday you celebrate. OR, you could send a non-holiday, “just to say HI” card.
  • There aren’t too many other rules. Last year many people made their own cards, some sent letters, some included little gifts…it’s anything goes (as long as it’s nice).
  • I would like all the addresses by November 30th, so I can get the list e-mailed to everyone on or near December 1st.
  • If you would like a team invite for this, so you get everyone’s entries, please let me know by commenting under this post or telling me when you contact me with your info. Otherwise, feel free to adopt the goal on your own.

HAVE FUN!!!

Addresses 51 - 68 2 years ago

The second list has been sent. It only has 18 additional addresses on it because that’s all I seem to have, even though I have about 85 e-mail addresses I’m sending to. Please let me know if you’ve given me an address but you’re not on the list, so I can get you on there. It’s not that I’m scatter-brained, but with all the 43T mail that has come in in the last 2 months, especially while I’ve been out of town, celebrating my birthday, and having a house full of company, it’s not easy to keep it all sorted, since I can’t send it to an appropriate folder like I can my yahoo mail.

And, again, if you’re planning on doing this goal and haven’t sent me your info yet, please do so NOW!

Addresses 1-50 2 years ago

I just sent out, via e-mail, the first 50 addresses. If you have given me your info and you don’t receive a list, please let me know so we can see what/where the problem is.

Likewise, if you’re participating in the card exchange and you haven’t given me your info, please do so ASAP.

Address List 2 years ago

I’m still trying to get rested and re-organized from having a house full of company all week, but as far as I can tell, I only have about 65 e-mail and snail-mail addresses. I am planning on sending out the first batch of addresses tomorrow, so if you haven’t sent me your info yet, it would be really helpful if you could do that ASAP.

I have tried to respond to everyone who has messenger-ed me with their info, so you’ll know for sure that I got it. But it’s easy to miss someone, so if you haven’t heard back from me, please leave me a comment here to let me know.

Also, if you are not on the team and would like in invite, so you can make sure to get any new info, etc., please let me know and I’ll get one sent to you.

SMILES,
Flirt

Hi, everybody! 2 years ago

I’m a little behind in my responses to everyone, because I’ve been busy celebrating my birthday. If I get a 43 message or an e-mail from you giving me your info, I will try to respond soon, so you’ll know I got it. I’ll also try to send out another round of invites to those of you who aren’t already on the team, in case you want to join. However, it’s easy to miss people, so please feel free to let me know if you want one and don’t get one by tomorrow.

Meanwhile, anyone who wants information on how this works, you can read my entry here. Hopefully that will answer all of your questions. If not, feel free to ask.

CHEERS!!!

It's holiday card time again! 2 years ago

Trauma_Junkie hosted the exchange last year, and asked if I would do it this year, since her work and living schedule is kind of crazy right now. Here’s how it works:

  • If you’re interested in sending cards to other 43thingers, you send me your information through 43messages or e-mail, and I’ll compose a list of all the participants.
  • The information I’ll need for the list is: :
    1. Your 43Things name and your real name (IF you want it included on the list);
    2. Your complete mailing address; and,
    3. Your e-mail address (I won’t give it out to anyone.
