Make my altar cloths

today. That’s progress…right? Just have to give myself some classical conditioning and maybe tomorrow I’ll touch them :)

I guess I could complete this goal when I work on my clean house goal. I’ve got a pile of ironing that needs to be done, so if I pin the edges of my cloths, I can just iron them right along with the rest of the clothes I have to iron, then I’d have two things done.

Altar cloths are functional for me. There is nothing symbolic about them. Pretty much they are there to add color to the altar if needed, look pretty, and protect my table from wax and ash. I bought a couple different colors of cheap satin (on sale…yay!), and some of that iron on hemming stuff. I’ve never used it before, but I hear people swear by it. I’m also going to buy some white and black cotton. Just to have some basic everyday use stuff. In the future, when I get good at this iron on stuff and beading, I’m going to make some fancier cloths. I’ll hem the edges and sew on some beaded fringe. I think it will really change the look of the altar, and I might even add some symbolism to the beads. Maybe holiday colors or something. I’ve had the material for awhile, I hope adding this to the list will give me motivation to finish it.
