Have got key, and made a very soggy visit to the plot today. Stood there and looked at it a bit, ordered some seed potatoes, and went home again.
Have added a new goal to grow vegetables, so I’m done with this goal now.
Unless there should be an intermediate stage of “make allotment ready to plant”!!!

Here’s a picture of the plot.

Went to see the other two sites that came up today, and one of them is lovely! It’s a half-plot, not too weedy, lots of sunshine :-)
The soil looks a bit poor, but nothing a few barrow loads of manure won’t sort out…

Ok, so the overgrown one might not come off, but apparently there are two others that are becoming vacant, and I’m off to have a look at them tomorrow, so fingers crossed!

the letter from the council admitted it was very overgrown, so I’m going to have a look at it first before I decide whether to accept it. I might get it rent free because it’s so bad… Still, one of the reasons I wanted it was so I could get some exercise, and digging up weeds will do that for me.
If it’s covered in brambles, then I might think twice.
Or, the alternative would be to ask to stay on the list, but take this one in the meantime – that way I’d get the chance of a more feasible project, and the plot would improve whilst I had it. I’ll let you know.

Now there’s only four people ahead of me on the list :-)

11 people ahead of me. Council says the odds are good I’ll get one this year :-)

I’ve seen the allotments round our way, and if I managed to get one it would be covered with couch grass, and I’d have to spend the first year or two completely clearing it. Or swallow my principles and use weed killer, which doesn’t seem to make sense really…
