Unfortunately, I need to eat.. and I can’t afford the independent grocers nearby. I will try this again when the cash flow is more than a trickle.

I try to do this whenever I can, but sometimes it’s really hard, especially since I’m on a limited budget. Indie stores don’t offer discounts comparable to big box stores… which, I know, is what is killing them. Luckily I live in town, so there are more indpendent stores to choose from. I had the most glorious “organic” donut the other day from an independent donut shop. (A tough sell in a country where our national pride rests in a coffee/donut chain.) I can’t imagine if I were living in suburbia. It would be practically impossible to achieve this goal!
