quit saying I want to write and actually write

I am giving up on this goal. I am also giving up on all goals related to writing fiction. Someday I will probably return and re-open them. However, now is not the time.

I get so obsessed with wanting to write something wonderful that I can’t start anything that isn’t immediately that wonderful. “Wonderful” can be replaced with perfect, good, fun, interesting, fascinating, or many other words.

I always say, “I want to write,” but the obsessions above (as well as a variety of others) prevent me from doing the writing itself—or getting farther than 1,000 words when I do start.

I have written in the past. I have written 400,000 words in one year. But lately it has been all the “I want to write…but I cannot”. And that has to change.
