starting again 2 years ago

So I wanted to start running and I did. Then I stopped. Winter came and I HATE running inside on a treadmill & there are no indoor tracks near me. The treadmill is way more difficult for me. (everyone thinks I’m nuts when I say that.) I think I’m just A.D.D. and I get bored on a treadmill and then start thinking about how tired I am or how hard I’m working. I don’t know, excuses, excuses. :)

Any way, Spring has sprung and I went out for my first run in almost 3 months. It killed me!!! I started running, the first time, by using a learn to run a 10K program that I read about here. That worked GREAT! I’m using that again to get back into it. I know it works and I know I was able to do it once so I can do it again.

Good luck to all, enjoy those sore Hamstrings & glutes. :)

I'm starting week 10 3 years ago

Ok, so I’m following the Run 10K program that some one here had posted about. I’m just beginning my 10th week. Today is going to be my first HUGE run. I did my first big run the other week and made it, so I can do this. It’s run 10, walk 1, run 20, walk 1, run 30!!! YIKES. I hope I can, I think I can, I know I can.

I’m so happy that I’ve been doing this. I highly recommend this program to anyone who is wanting to learn how to run or build up their distance. http://www.sportmedbc.com/Content/InTraining/Programs/Run10kIntro.asp

keep runnin’!

It's AWESOME! 3 years ago

I’m starting week 4 of the program today and I can’t wait to get out there and run. I can’t believe how much I love it. We live just a couple blocks from what is called a rail trail. They have convereted an old railroad into a running/walking/biking trail. It’s the best place to run, nice and shaded in the woods, not crowded but you do pass other people. Very nice!

The biggest thing I need to work on now is my breathing. I need some pointers if anyone has any, i’d appreciate it.

This is the program I’m doing. Some one else posted this, but I thought I’d repost in case some one was wondering. :)

I started!!! 3 years ago

Now I’ve only been out one time, just 1 day ago, but it felt GREAT!! I’m doing a program that some one on here suggested. (it’s posted under the ask advice, “how to get started”) I was only out for about 40 minutes and I ran for a bit, walked for a bit. I am so proud of myself for actually walking out the front door and for being able to complete that entire first session, even in 95+ degree heat.

My muscles are totally feeling it now, but it’s a good pain. I’ve been stretching a lot and plan on walking or using my eliptical on the days that the program doesn’t have a run scheduled.

For those of you who want to do this but haven’t tried. Just do it. Just take that first step and walk out your front door. That was the most difficult part for me. :)

Good luck everyone!!!
