Well, I got to thinking about it this morning. Even though I didn’t accomplish what I wanted to on Thanksgiving Day itself, I’d like to keep working on thankfulness—either thanking people specifically, or simply expressing thanks in a general way: “i’m thankful for my good health”.

So I’ll try to do this at least once a day through the end of the year. I’ve changed to goal title to reflect the season instead of just one day.

I can’t really say I did this one. I did tell my mom and cousin thanks for making the Thanksgiving meal, otherwise that was it. I don’t think it was so much that I didn’t have things ready to express thanks for. It’s more that I feel uncomfortable or embarrassed expressing genuine sentiments. It’s much easier (safer?) to mock or to at least express everything in an ironic fashion.

Thanksgiving is one of the better holidays for my friends and family and me, but I think I could do a better job of observing the meaning of the holiday and being a positive participant in it. I have been more of an observer than I’d like in past years.

One thing I’d like to do this year is to express thanks to my friends and family without being pedantic about it. Maybe it’ll be catching. So, for the next few days, I’m going to try and list some things – at least a dozen – I am thankful for so I can have them ready.
