I have many books I’d like to get rid of. There are boxes of them upstairs that have not been upacked for a long time, for as many as ten years in some cases. All of this adds to the hassle and expense of moving, and adds to the clutter than seems to be blocking the energy I want to be putting into other things.
I got software to manage the inventory (Delicious Library for the Mac) and have begun to enter books and designate those I want to get rid of, moving them to specific shelves in my bookcases.
I’ve discussed doing the online sales thing (Alibris or Amazon) with a friend, but we may decide just to use a local bookstore if the margins aren’t high enough to be worth the extra hassle. charity is another option.
