1. The Tale of Despereaux: Being the Story of a Mouse, a Princess, Some Soup and a Spool of Thread
2. The Eyre Affair
3. Sweetness and Light: The Mysterious History of the Honeybee
4. A Fish Caught in Time : The Search for the Coelacanth
All 4 were really good and worth reading.

Sex with the Queen by Eleanor Herman
I’ve gone ahead and switched this goal over to 2009 since I know I won’t reach it by year’s end. I’ll still list any books I might get through before now and December 31st though I don’t know that there will be any.

There is just no way I’ll be able to do this. I got further with this goal last year than I did this time. 2009 it is!

I’m pretty certain there’s no way this will be happening. I’m just too busy. Sigh.

Duel Of Passion by Madeleine Ker
Ugh. That’s all I have to say. It’s was ok for what it was, an old Harlequin romance novel – the literary equivalent to greasy bag of chips – but man the ending was so ridiculous it honestly made me laugh.

What Happens In Paris (Stays In Paris?) by Nancy Robards Thompson
This wasn’t good. It had so much potential but the writer couldn’t seem to decide what she wanted the book to be, and the main character was annoying, and unbelievable stuff would happen, and most of the characters were one dimensional, and… well, I don’t really need to go any further, do I?
On the bright side, my urge to paint was heightened by reading it.

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did (and I really did), especially since I was kind of meh about it after reading the first few pages. I set it down to chat with some people and when I picked it up again I read the rest of it in one sitting, wanting to know what happened. Worth reading.
I’m only 2 books shy of being doubly ahead of schedule.

Theodore Roosevelt by Louis Auchincloss
Meh. The information on Roosevelt was “worth consuming” but the the book was dry and not particularly well-written, and I didn’t care for the author inserting his opinion in odd places. I’m sure there are a ton of better biographies written about T. Roosevelt.
I’m still well ahead of schedule. Barely 6 weeks in, 11 books read.

The Autobiography of Henry VIII: With Notes by His Fool, Will Somers by Margaret George
A huge book which was most definitely worth reading.
