Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

list 25 literary characters I'd want in my corner Just In Case..."

22. Katniss 23. Peeta from Hunger Games.

Why? They survived the Hunger Games and are just amazing continually. They brought their A game and took all. Enough said.

21. Cyrano De Bergerac

in Cyrano De Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. He was dashing, lyrical, verbose, a romancer of words and actions, fought off close to a hundred men at the same time and didn’t lose, kept silent of his love for a woman, and lied to the man she married so that he would die content and when she professed her love for him, died content. He is a renaissance man to me.

20. Gerry from

P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern. He was sweet, supportive and just everything I’d want for a cheerleader and man to support me for anything.

17.-19. The D'Artigo sisters: Camille, Delilah, and Menolly.

Fierce, feminine yet strong, sexy women who all have talents be it magical, or through martial arts. I’d love to have women like that around me and in my corner.

(Author-Yasmine Galenorn, the Otherworld series)

15. & 16. Scarlett O'Hara aka The O'Hara..and Rhett Butler

I wasn’t as thrilled with Scarlett until I read the book Gone With the Wind and then Scarlett. She is fabulous, I love her spunk, her elegance, her determination, her grit, all the things that make her an unforgettable woman. It’s great she has the ability to fluster men, speak her mind and pursue what she wants. I think she’d be a fierce protector and definitely want her on my team.

Rhett Butler is a strong creative interesting different male that showed his heart when it came to his children and eventually to Scarlett. I enjoyed a man that went after what he wanted, let go of many fashionable/unfashionable traditions and worked at being a good son/family to his family.

(Gone With the Wind-Margaret Mitchell, Scarlett-Alexandra Ripley)

14. Jacob Black from Twilight series..

He’s strong, fierce, protective and loyal. What a great guy er werewolf to have to back you up. He thinks of others, notices details and puts stuff together pretty easily. One smart sensitive cookie!

13. NYPD Homicide Detective Sara Pezzini wields the Witchblade, an ancient, intelligent, living weapon.

A mystical gauntlet that bonds to the skin of it’s wearer, giving them special powers

She can be best described as a kickass woman, but other adjectives include…lethal, dangerous, deceiving and deadly. I used to dream I could be the holder of the witchblade, but I think it’s best in Sara’s hands. She’s steadfast and helps out when needed. A good addition to my group.

12. Jackie Estacado is the current wielder of The Darkness and hitman for the Franchetti Family mob.

Thanks to wikipedia for putting it succinctly: He is a very violent and sexual man who, until gaining the powers of The Darkness, lived life in the fast lane. Of course, because of the possibility of impregnating a woman causing his own death through the mysterious ways of The Darkness, Jackie tries to refrain from sex, to his great frustration. Though Jackie lives life on the wrong side of the law and can kill without remorse, he has a set of morals he follows and always tries to protect those he cares about.

I have loved him for years and would love to have him protecting me.

9. Merry Gentry aka Meredith Nic Essus 10. Killing Frost 11. Doyle aka Darkness

Another Laurell K. Hamilton series and to me these three characters are simply great to have protecting you. Two of them are the Queen’s Guard and then Merry is the possible heir to the throne, so she is a survivor. I admire their guts, determination and intelligence. Definitely comrades in arms.

8. Jean Claude from the Anita Blake series is deadly, dangerous and seductiveness rolled into

a most lethal combination. I adore how he stands up against his foes, for his people and does ask for help. Best of all, Anita and he are a deadly pair!
