I went ahead and bought it after speaking with a woman there, who explained it was just old, and she thought the bobbin was missing-but checked the box and it was there. Hoping to get this one set up in the spare room, and try sewing something again. I will try to get a picture up of my capelet/poncho project soon. Planning to return the brand new sewing machine as the tension is just crap and its an absolute hassle sadly.

sewing machine to share with me, or become mine. It’s not the greatest, so we may return it. The bottom stitch even playing with the tension is absolute crap. Getting started again on the muslin shirt I started way back when..maybe it’ll have sleeves on it before October!
Sewing machine died mid project on me. We haven’t checked out the other Singer sewing machine to see if it works yet. However, I was using my mom’s which was my grandma’s old one. I’m hoping we can get it working again as it’s the one I’m most comfortable with. However, even with the machine down, I hemmed-by hand mind you, my whole hem, which was something like 60 inches each side…I hate pins now. Last part to do is the special ribbon at the collar, as it’s a v collar and I think it’ll really set it off. I’m hoping to get this done before my trip to Seattle so I can wear it up there and show it off! I’ll take a picture when it’s complete.
accomplish another goal. To learn to sew better-found my shirt that I was working on and I found the capelets that I was hoping to get done in time for winter weather. If I can get this done-I’ll post pictures! Progress…it’s a good thing.
I bought more patterns on sale at Joanne’s for 99 cents. More patterns that will sit around for a while. The excitement is just frothing out of me right now, can you tell? Winter Break…hmm..maybe I’ll be able to check this off then.
While out thrift-store shopping with my mom, we came across an old Singer sewing machine. It was marked $35 but the store is moving, so they were marking things down 75 percent off, still I would rather check before bringing something to the register. I guess my mom went and asked, and the lady told her no, it was $35 period. I went up and asked, not knowing my mom had asked, and asked about it. The lady told me, she’d take 50 percent off for me. :D I was needless to say thrilled. So I went off to tell my mom, as I happened to be near broke. End result, that is one of my Christmas presents. Not too shabby if I say so myself. Definite progress as I will finally have my own machine. It’s similar to my mom’s so if I get stuck, I can prolly fix it on my own. That’s very exciting.
I was looking back at my goals and realized that I basically dropped my clothing thing, which I realize is not good. Plus I found a pattern with the vests that I wanted to make and think would be a litttttttle simpler even and quicker.. I have tons of material… Really need to practice this more as I’m still keeping my eyes peeled for a sewing machine that would be similar to the one I worked on with my mom and sister. I have unofficially joined the ranks of Procrastinors R-US. sheepish grin
Ok, I still have the shirt project going. I have everything but sleeves done and …I just don’t know. I think I lost interest in it when I realized gas was going up and my mom is on other side of town. Excuses excuses…. I will get the shirt finished before October is over. If not…I will have to cook up something I don’t want to do that’s far worse. Sewing isn’t so bad, just need to keep doing it. Procrastinators RS here I come…
I’m working right now on a shirt top, that I bought 100% cotton muslin for this past week. I found a pattern that worked, cut the fabric out last night, and with some help from my mom(she’s the greatest), I have started to sew it together. I may finally understand the sewing machine better :D
I have bought so much sewing material over the past 10 years it is not funny. Like so much of my other crafty materials, I need to use this or get rid of it. I can’t bear to part with it so I have bought some sewing help books and I will just pray with my mother’s help that I can make something useful. That or come to the realization that I am a hugeeeeee procrastinator. Either way, I better do something about it.
