microwaved scrambled eggs 3 years ago

We’re not talking high-brow cooking here, but since rediscovering this I’ve considered it a near perfect method of cooking. I first spray a little cooking spray in the bowl, add the eggs and mix them up, and cook it in the microwave. I can then eat them directly from the bowl and drop it in the dishwasher. Fast and simple in every respect.

Chinese seminar 3 years ago

Last week I went to a demonstration seminar on
Chinese cooking by Joseph Poon, a celebrity
chef based in Philly. He demonstrated 7
different chicken dishes,
including my fav, General Tso’s (which he
calls General Joe’s for obvious reasons).

He was very entertaining and informative.
Right up front he showed how he cuts up
a whole chicken, and I learned a lot just
from that. Some of his humor was along
these lines: “This chicken costs three dollr, I sell
for sisty-fife in my rest’rant! Some places sell
for a hundred! Can you believe it?”
He plays up his Chinese heritage
to good effect, and even includes some of his
philosophy of life.

The General Joe’s chicken is first marinated and then
deep-fried. The sauce has to be cooked and
then poured on top. I may sound, umm, chicken,
but that’s more steps than I’m willing to do
on a regular basis. But maybe if I get organized,
make up the sauce in a big batch and store it
for later, I can make this sometimes. :)
Some of the chicken dishes require boiling first to
about 75% cooked, followed by deep-frying.
Again, 2 steps is 1 too many for me. :)

All in all, I’m thinking about trying to make
it over to his restaurant in Chinatown sometime or try
another one of his classes. He has more information on his
website http://josephpoon.com
