About 5 years ago I sat down and wrote a novel. It was good. After I finished, feeling satisfied with my 500-ish page novel, I set it aside. Although I set it aside, I never forgot it. It’s printed and in a large envelope, collecting dust.
I had fully intended submitting my novel for review and possible publication, but, as in so many cases, life happened. I had a child, then another…and before I knew it, my dust-covered prize has become little more than a nuisance plaguing me. I say “nuisance” only because it haunts me so. For something that is nothing more physically than paper and ink, it is an item (500 items, really) than beckons me to touch, read and savor after so many years. I put so much of myself into those words, and I let it go: complete, but not whole.
I intend to pull it out, read it, correct and re-write anything that I feel is no longer relevent. And my goal is to have it submitted for review by my 28th birthday: January 28, 2008.
