I have offically recieved my “get in shape” motivation. Both my best friend and my older sister have gotten engaged in the past 2 weeks. I will be in both weddings… June 2009 and November 2009.
It helps that I am already on track. I have lost 3 lbs in the past 2 weeks. 1.5 lb a week is great becasue you arent really supposed to lose more than 1-2 lbs a week for best long term maintenence.
I have been running 30-60 minutes a day, plus wieght training.
Last night I cooked chicken sausage with marinera sause and whole wheat pasta, as well as a Turkey meatloaf (I love meatloaf, but it cant be great for you). Healthy, and lots of leftovers! I am not trying to cut things out of my diet just using moderation and finding healthy alternatives to the foods that I enjoy. I seems to be working out well!
Good Luck to all!

So I was chatting with my boyfriend last night about how he hasnt been to the gym in a month due to a crazy school schedule (nursing)/laziness, and I have been working out, but my eating habits need improvment. So we have decided that starting today we are going to eat healthier. Corn Dogs and Apple Turnovers were dontated to the other roommates, finished off the 1000 island salad dressing and stocked the fridge with veggies, fruit, fish and chicken. Tonight meal will either be Shrimp Stir Fry with brown rice, or Grilled Tilapia. Also we finally used the Crock Pot and made Minestrone Soup from scratch. That will be lunch for the week. Its all about the teamwork… we need to encoarage eachother!
Begining Stats:
5’5”
140.5
I am not going to set a goal wieght because I think eating better should be goal #1 and I will see what happens from there!

calorie counting… I always forget to check labels, and I hate having to hunt the item down on websites (such as dailyplate).... sigh….

Fake Lent...
The gym trips have never been a problem for me… just my eating habits. I have this problem where I like food. Even the healthy stuff I will eat more than nessesary. As a result I have decided to do a “fake lent” hence giving up a few things for the next 2 months. I will wean myself off them (and get rid of the food out of my cabinets for the next week, and then on Sept. 1st go cold turkey
1) Alcohol – I will only drink minimal amounts of white wine (I will give it up entirely after my birthday in mid-Sept)
2) 1000 Island Dressing – The death to all my salads… curses to the man that invented it!
3) Bread – I will still eat whole wheat pasta and brown rice, just no bread
4) Desert – the candy jar at work has a magnetic pull
on me that I must resist.
My boyfriend is starting nursing school again, and doing all nighttime clinicals, which is bad becasue I will never see him, but good becasue my meals will be much more minimal on those days (he is the cook, I do dishes).
Ready, Set, Go…..

Dear Future Self… If today was the begining to the rest of your life what would you eat? I am guessing it is not hot dogs, Chex Mix, pastries, McDonalds, and Pizza that just consumed my weekend. To my defense I was camping, but in reality that is no excuse. Today is the first day to rest of your life…. eat like it!
I will (once again) start a food journal. I always start these things, use them for a week, and forget. Exercise is not a problem… not eating like my boyfriend is. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can….

Mistake to wear today… ugg! On the bright side I have a feeling that I wont be excessivly eating at lunch today due to the fact that I have only had 1 cup of Fiber One cereal and green tea, and already can barely breath. Then again I was never shy about unbuttoning pants as long as no one see…

Seems to be a croc to me. I just read a “holistic health” magazine and every other ad is for “natural supplements” It is still putting a form of drug into your body, right? I mean asprin is made from the bark of a willow tree (in its purest form) so it is still utilizing nature for its ingredients. Also I tried the whole supplements, natural health way over antibiotics once (lack of health insurance drove me to it) and I ended up in the emergency room becasue I let the initial problem go to long (meaning the natural stuff didnt work).
The main reason for this rant is that many of the ads were for “Natural” wieght loss means. I would never waste my money on these pills… the “natural” weight way to lose weight is eat a balanced diet and stay active! Sigh…. I just hate being led in the wrong direction…. dont even get me started on colonics and fasting….
Feel free to prove me wrong, but I am just bored with the 1,001 ways to lose wieght, and most of them not working…

Are not designed very well!!
I beleive I could lose some weight and tone up a little, but overall I have a very good body image. Lets put it this way… I just got back from Las Vegas, hung out in my bikini all day around a bunch of obviously anorexic girls (the sunken cheekbones is the giveaway) with massive fake boobs (not a problem, I just dont need them becasue mine hold up pretty well)... and I still managed to get lots of free drinks, and get into the VIP areas.
Despite this we all have bad days…. such as mine yesterday. I went shopping and managed to the the worst of the worst dressing room lighting. Cellulite, rolls, etc. One would assume that if we can put a man on the moon, we can figure out how to stick a few skinny mirrors and good lighting in a fitting room at Bloomingdales…. am I right? Needless to say I went for an extra long run, and had chicken with salad for dinner when I got home….. stupid mirrors!

I just got back from backpacking (and summiting) Mt. Whitney (the highest mountian in the lower United States). Think walking steep, uphill, rocky trails for 11 miles with 30 lbs on you back…. and then having to walk back down. It was hard, but amazing. Lost 5 lbs in the process (that could be duw to also eating nothing but granola bars and freeze dried ood for 3 days too). I am going to Vegas in 3 weeks, so if a could drop a few more lbs I would be happy… Goal to eat better and lift more wieghts for the next few weeks to look good in the bikini!
