26. The smell of Aspen cologne **

Dad wore it when I was a kid and evey today it makes me feel safe and secure, loved and treasured. Isn’t it amazing how powerful scents can be? Read the rest of the post

25. Completing a crochet project *

Kasey first taught me to crochet, but I didn’t keep with it and I forgot, so Mutti had to re-teach me. Since then, I’ve made a few scarves and an afghan. The scarves have gotten increasingly better, but the afghan was terrible. Someday, I hope to . . . Read the rest of the post

24. Rob's eyes *

They’re beautiful. They’re so expressive. I could stare into them, laugh with them, cry with them forever. Read the rest of the post

23. Eliciting genuine laughter because I was actually funny *

I’m into honesty. I know that I’m not funny. When I try, it usually fails. Miserably.

As a teacher, I never know if my students are laughing because my joke was actually funny or if it’s just because I’m the teacher and they earn brownie points by laughing. I hope it’s the former.

I even have a hard time . . . Read the rest of the post

22. Getting and Staying Organized**

I’ve almost become addicted to it. It all started with StumbleUpon and me stumbling upon LifeOrganizers.com. I started leaving the site up in my browser at home. I’d read a few articles everyday.

And it infected me. Slowly at first, Read the rest of the post

21. Falling asleep in my husband's arms. **

Ahhh… is there any safer, more comfortable place? I submit that there is not.

Sometimes we sleep facing each other, just holding hands. And that is quite wonderful. But what I really truly love is when we “spoon,” with his arms wrapped around me, his breath tickling the hair on the back of my neck, and his knees snuggled behind mine. Read the rest of the post

20. Getting to Watch a Beautiful Thunderstorm **

I grew up in Tornado Alley, so I got to see great storms every spring. Mom had the misfortune to have experienced a terrible storm and ensuing flood in Kansas City, so she would always retreat to the basement and encourage us to do the same. But I have always loved the light show.

I love the feeling of rain on my skin, so getting wet isn’t a problem either. I love seeing … Read the rest of the post

19. Popping "Good" Pimples *

I remember liking to pop pimples when I was in high school, but I thought it was totally weird. I thought I was the only one. Then I got to college and discovered that my roommates also liked to pop pimples. I wasn’t too weird!

I finally felt totally normal with this little personal care fascination of mine when Sarah told me about her point system for pimples. Read the rest of the post

18. Farts *

Okay, I know this one isn’t as picturesque and touching as some of the other items on my list, but I wrote my 100 Things list honestly, so “farts” it is.

“Ladies” don’t like farts (or burps), and neither do “moms.” I don’t think I was raised to be a True Lady, but if Moms don’t like farts, I might not be a good Mom. Read the rest of the post

17. Hearing Rob's Belly Laugh **

I’m not talking about the laugh he gives 90% of the time, but that laugh from something deeply hilarious to him. I first fell in love with it after we got married. I would be in the “office” (which was an oversized TV tray next to our bed) working while Rob watched TV in the living room. He’d be watching late night TV, anything, and he’d just burst out laughing. Like whatever he heard was the funniest thing ever. Read the rest of the post
