learn greek

i’m part way through chapter 7, in teach your self beginners greek, called τι ωραια πολυθρονα! haha. just trying to memorise the vocab for now. grasping bits and pieces of grammer but 3 genders is certainly not helping things! and the spellings… argh. the 3 letters for the i/ee sound, plus the vowel combinations. and two o letters and then the weird consonant combinations like γκ in παγκο and αναγκη and also μπ for b and ευ for ef/ev when there’s already a β for a v sound! so frustrating but i’m getting used to it and as i mostly learn languages for the mental/visual process the writing/alphabet is challenging and thus good lol.

This is such slow progress. I’ve been listening to the dialogues a bit but it’s still so hard to distinguish sperate words let alone meanings. I only know a few words, the hellos/goodbyes/ introductory stuff but I keep getting them all confused! The different alphabet doesn’t help as if I leave learning for a couple of weeks, I forget some of the letters. Just need to practice, practice, practice! :D
