“Inside The Third Reich: Memoirs of Albert Speer”. So far it’s very interesting. I enjoy his writing style.

Nazi Germany is learning the German language. I bought a German dictionary the other day. Yeah!
“Blind Spot”. It was a documentary about Hitler’s secretary. Very fascinating and insightful. Riveting.
“Triumph of the Will”. It’s an infamous Nazi propaganda flim from 1934.
Band of Brothers series. Obviously, most of it is from the American point of view but there is some information in there about Nazi Germany. Sometimes mini series can end up being pointless and tacky but Band of Brothers is not. I am really enjoying watching it.
Next week we will be attending a lecture entitled “Bearing Witness: Art As Social Commentary and Art As Propaganda”. The art an posters of WW 2 will be the main focus of this slide lecture. Wow! I’m so excited. This lecture sounds great! Can’t wait!

“Next to my own people, I feel closest sympathy with the English – There is something the English have that is lacking in the Americans. For instances, they respect a man’s station. They would never call a general or marshal “Mr. so and so”, the way you people do. A general is a general, a title is a title. You Americans don’t understand those things. The British do. Another thing: they wouldn’t rush right into a country they had just conquered and try to set up a democracy overnight. They’d say, “Well, in this country this will work; in that country it won’t.” But you have only one idea. We made the same mistake – trying to sell National Socialism overnight in our conquered territories.”
—Hermann Goering speaking with G. M. Gilbert in his prison cell on December 23, 1945
from the book “Nuremberg Diary” by G. M. Gilbert
Reactions to the Indictment
“HERMANN GOERING, Reichsmarschall and Luftwaffe-Chief, President of the Reichstag, Plenipotentiary of the Four Year Plan, etc., etc., wrote his favorite cynical formula,
“The victor will always be the judge, and the vanquished the accused.”
Nuremberg Diary by G. M. Gilbert page 10
A postcard from the library came in the mail today. They have “The Nuremburg Diaries” on hold for me.
