Yep. Only one left. I am going to stop sounding surprised that each of the movies on this list is better than I expected. This Movie was completely awesome.

I watched “The Seventh Seal” and “Metropolis”, again surprisingly better than I expected. I’d only seen those clips of Metropolis that people show in bits of music videos—but its great, and I don’t usually like silent movies. I guess all that’s left are “Once Upon a Time in the West” and “Double Indemnity”
It was fantastic. I had little expectations, I haven’t seen many German films. I’d never seen anything prewar at all. But this was beautifully shot, and well written. I also appreciate that the illness of Peter Lore’s character was relayed to the viewer without any acts of overt violence. Well done.
A good film but horribly depressing. It gives great insight into
what drives a person to be a despotic monster.
Wow, I have to say, after spending years avoiding Chaplin, I have really come to like him. Granted I really have to motivate myself to watch the movies, because you know, there is no talking, but once I get into them I am just continually entertained. . . hell, I often laugh out loud. This guys a genius. Which is nothing you didn’t know already. But there not too many comedy people who can stand the test of time.
The list is now:
“Once Upon a Time in the West”
“Downfall”
“M”
“Double Indemnity”
“The Seventh Seal”
“Metropolis”
I watched “A Touch of Evil” this weekend. Okay I know it’s sacraligous to say, but I thought it was overated. Janet Leigh is a terrible actress, really. Orson Wells was great. I’m not sure about Heston as a Mexican. The movie had all sorts of innovative shots and things, and the story is interesting-but top 100. I just don’t know. I’m sure there is a film student out there who will give me a million reasons for the films greatness-but for me it was dissapointing.
And here are the ones I haven’t seen.
“Once Upon a Time in the West”
“Downfall”
“City Lights”
“M”
“Double Indemnity”
“Touch of Evil”
“The Seventh Seal”
“Metropolis”
I actually put this goal on because I’d seen it on a few other peoples lists. I thought, hey that sounds like a good idea. And I put it on before I really studied the list. Now that I’ve looked at it more closely I realize I only need to see like two movies before I can mark this complete.
