I really am so fed up with this horrible weather in Austria that dominates a great part of the year, especially now that I’ve just come back from Israel and have been lying on the beach and swimming while there was a snow storm going on in my fucking hom country – EXCUSE ME!! How are people supposed to enjoy life like this? I know I can’t. I don’t do any of these winter sports like skiing, have no desire to learn it and no money to afford it anyway. Most of the time, I am sick because it’s cold and I’m very sensitive to the chilly and windy weather. Great, what a life! The things I like to do I can’t do here. And I tell you one thing, the weather really affects people’s mood, just look at the way people feel and look like in Israel and the way they are here! I mean, it seems to be a cultural thing in Austria to be in a bad mood and really pessimistic, always perceiving only the bad things in the world all the time, but the weather does it’s part, too. And I jsut can’t stand it anymore. However, I’m not gonna make the same mistake again and settle for a certain place where I think I would like to live and then just go there and start a life there. I’ve made this mistake before, and now I know there’s really no telling from far away if a place is worth living at or not. Never believe what the toursit websites tell you, and the clichés there are about different countries. You have to go there and find out for yourself. (and by the way, ALL travel guides say something like “the people in this country are really friendly and warm”, even though it’s SO NOT TRUE. For those Scandinavian countries, like my favourite one, Denmark, they write something like “Even tough people seem a little cool and closed at first sight, they are really warm inside”. Meaning: If you go live there for ten years, you neighbours will start talking to you and remember the warmth in their hearts, but not before! So don’t go there!) Okay, I’m getting all carried away. What I actually wanted to say is that I want to life in a warm country by the sea, where I can go surfing, where I like the language (cause of course I would learn the language of that country), and that’s somewhat Western. Meaning: Portugal, Italy, Spain, Greece (no…), southern France (no-no), some island in the Mediterranean Sea, Israel. I tend to stick to Portugal, or Israel of course, but I have the feelign I’d feel considerably safer in a European country cause it’s still my cultural home, and most importantly, Portugal doesn’t have a war going on!
