Half way through "Buddha in your Backpack" 3 years ago

I really need to get serious about finishing reading books, because I’ll get halfway through and other things seem to need my attention so I forget about my reading. I did notice when I was younger that reading seemed to help me gain and regain my focus so that is what I hope to eventually reaccomplish. Anyway, regarding Buddhism, I am reading a book called “Buddha in your Backpack” that although it is written for kids in 7-9th grade it’s still very easy to read and is not to confusing. I notice sometimes that Buddhist/Buddhism books sometimes require a very large ability to think way outside the box and sometimes thinking in the confined spaces of the box and then you learn the box as well as you do not exist and you’re like, “WTF!?” But this book has helped me tremendously to just understand what Buddhism is and where is comes from and how/what a Buddhist believes. It seems to not be a religion but a way of life and maybe people add deities and prayer to their way of life to turn it into a spiritual/religious aspect for their lives. Regardless, I am on a quest to understand the many religions of the world so that that will be one less bias that keeps me from really fully experiencing the worth, value(s), and lives of other people and fully fathoming what life is and what my life is and can become.

Buddha in your backpack. It’s a book for young adults about buddhism. I hope it’s a good read and will help me get started with possibly incorporating buddhism into my life. All I’ve noticed so far is all of the small scriptures or passages that are strategically placed in the book are pretty vague or involved some circular thinking, but I guess it’s meant to get me thinking or at least think more than I do know…..as if I don’t think enough….erggg!
