For 6 years I’ve owned a storage and I figured that it has costed me progressively $540 a year to maintain my storage space…a space that just contains all the junk I’ve accumulated over the past 6 years of being in college. I have been bring home my totes with all the crap and clothes and such in there and I had totally forgotten about some of the stuff I had in there. But, I figured if I hadn’t used it in a few years then I’d probably not use it now. So I separated things from the totes into 3 piles (Goodwill, trash, shred) there was no pile for things I’d like to keep because it’s just not worth it in the end I don’t think. It’ll be less stuff for me to have to move when/if I move. Anyway I got through 11 totes and have 8 bags of clothes and miscellaneous stuff to give to Goodwill. Too bad I don’t itemize my taxes. But really it’s not about getting a voucher saying I donated to charity. It feels like I’m cleaning part of my life as well. And it gives me peace of mind that probably by the end of this month I will be rid of the freakin’ storage space. $45 that I can have extra every month now. I’ll put that toward another one of my goals which is to pay off my student loans.
