yogamom07 has written 13 entries about this goal
I started reviewing after both my kids had their piano lessons. I figured since I am practicing with them I should go ahead and practice myself.
My previous entry to this goal was 10 months ago (LOL)!!! I am going back through the book again. I definitely know this book. So far, the songs are very easy. I started yesterday and I practiced some this morning. I am half way through the book.
We had a music parade around the house. My son wanted my husband to get out his trumpet to play. My son was playing the saxophone. He said “we have to walk around the house for the parade”. We had a great time!!
My reviewing Book 1 is half way done.
1) I need to practice the pedal more.
2) practice the finger lesson book.
3) get a notebook and write down the lessons that I know I know for sure.
4) read the site reading book that I have.
I did some review today in Book 1. I don’t know why I’m starting in book one again? I think this it’s just a way to avoid learning something that I have difficulty with.
I have been reviewing my Alfred Basic Adult Book 1 every week. I bought a book of nursery rymes and songs. It is kind of hard not knowing where your fingers should go :) I am figuring it out as I go. The Alfreds Book 1 at least tell you by number and chord where they should go. I have to step up my playing and practice on a daily basis. So far I have been consistant with getting some practice time in weekly (a few days a week).
I practiced some today. I decided to give myself a few pages a week to conquer out of Book 1. I got a piano book of nursery rhymes today. It’s not so easy when there is no numbers to let you know where the fingers are suppose to go :)
I practiced today after the kids went to bed and while I was waiting for desperate housewives to come on :) I’m going through the Alfreds Book 1 rather quickly. I have been through Book 1 many times. Book 2 is not as familiar to me. I have had a few teachers… 3 to be exact. The best one was the first and she had a music degree. She started me in the alfreds Basic Adult books. She was also taking me through the scales which really helped and I believe she changed a few things in the scale book to go along with the cord approach. The second one was a school teacher who just taught in the evening to earn extra money. The third one taught kids and she didn’t like the alfred basic so she taught me from the faber series and the alfred series. I like the alfred and want to complete it; however, today looking at the kids faber series I also want to tackle that too. I am also completely lost at practicing the scales exercise. I don’t know what to practice without instruction. I am now rethinking the “wait to get a piano instructor until book 3”. I will continue to practice. I thought about reading a sight book I had so maybe while I practice scale exercises I can say the scale note to help me with notes. I believe that was in the book as a practice exercise for learning sight reading.
I have been practicing the piano more. I need to keep it up and practice on a daily basis. My goal is to review/practice out of Alfred’s basic Adult Book 1. I decided that once I get into book 3 then I will get a piano teacher. I have had a few before and they are not really going to help me if I don’t practice. This has to be something that I am going to take time to actually practice. My reward for practicing up through December is buying a piano bench. My husband bought a piano and then the lady decided to keep the bench!!!
