I had to contact the person who emailed me and tell her I hadn’t received anything. Turned out she hadn’t even sent it yet (after three weeks!), which kind of disappointed me since I expected more organization.
My packet finally came in the mail on Friday and all I have to do is go somewhere to get fingerprinted and send my packet in. In a way I’m kind of worried now because I wonder how they handle the pairings. I mean, what if we don’t “click” or something? Ah well, I shouldn’t worry as I’m not sure I’ll get chosen anyway.

I hadn’t heard anything in over two months so I thought perhaps the program wasn’t still going on or I hadn’t been contacted for some reason or other. I heard from someone in the program last week who said I should be getting information about getting fingerprinted and having a background check done. I’m disappointed, in a way, because I figured they’d have done that already (I provided references), but perhaps I just don’t know how these things work. I checked the mailbox eagerly this week and nothing yet. :( This sure is taking awhile…

E Mentoring
So, I don’t have a car/don’t drive so I imagine it’d be difficult for me to be a mentor “in real life”, but I found this site where one can E-Mentor. I filled out an application 3 weeks ago and haven’t heard anything yet. :(
I really want to do this! It would basically inolve being paired with an at-risk child and meeting up to chat (in a supervised enviornement) once a week or more. I hope I hear from them soon.
