I don’t know if I’ll be able to do eight but I’ll try my best..I’ll be happy with two! Anyway, the first festival I am planning to celebrate (Since Yule has passed me by) is Saint Bridget’s Day, the day of the fertility goddess, Bride ‘bright fire,’ and the spring festival of Imbolc on the celtic calendar (February 1st). My task is to find straw in Toronto to weave my own Bridget’s cross which is traditionally placed on the door to welcome the goddess to the household.
The Bridget’s Cross is a symbol of protection and prosperity for the coming year. It is traditional to keep the crosses all year, and burn the old before blessing the new.
