Its not really clear to me how many people read my blog (and I haven’t worried about keeping stats, at least not for the last two or three years), but I look at it every day, and I want it to be differentiated from the masses and appealing to me. Its hard, these days, to do something creative with a blog template, but when I see lovingly crafted custom templates it makes me want to read more, because it tells me the person cares about what they’re doing.
All that said, I never seem to actually finish redesigning my blog…it generally stays in a 80% done state for a year and then I redesign it again! Perhaps its about the process more than the result.
