be a good father

•So I got married 7 months ago to the love of my life. We have been together for over five years now and I have known that she was the one about two months into the relationship. I am 25, my wife is 23, and I thought we were both too young to be getting married. But then someone told me something very wise. He said, “Would you rather find the right girl at the wrong time, or the wrong girl at the right time?”
•So, next chapter, my wife got very ill for the first 4 months of our marriage and we were in and out of hospitals on a very regular basis. Doctor after doctor could not figure out what was wrong with her. Finally, after being properly diagnosed, she began treatment of her illness. A month later, her father passed away about a month after his 60th birthday and retirement party. His death was absolutely devastating.
•And then a month after this, we find out that we are pregnant. It’s been a rough year for us so far, and I don’t even feel like we have gotten to enjoy marriage yet. I’m not ready for a baby… I thought I was too young to be married and now I’m going to be a father. Needless to say I am scared out of my mind. I have never really been around kids and I don’t have the first clue. I’ve always wanted to be a father “some day”. But that was the key part… “Some day”. I’m still just a kid myself.
•I just want to be a good father. Please, God, help me to be a good father to this child, and a good husband to my wife.
