I ran 12 miles this weekend. I’ll do another long run next weekend and the following weekend is the 1/2 marathon!
this half-marathon is a done deal!
Got fitted for a pair of running shoes today. They had me walk in my bare feet, in my socks, and had me run up and down the sidewalk with each shoe they introduced me to. Finally I found the perfect shoe. Different brand than I’ve always bought. More room for my toes. and more support for my 1/2 marathon in November.
at 5:30 this morning. woohoo.
goal this month: double the miles.
Tomorrow I’m meeting two women from work to run @ 5:30 AM .. I’m excited. The other day they both overslept but I ran at 5:30 anyway. Proud of myself. We have it on our calendars now as a reminder so hopefully it’ll come together. I also bought a garmin watch today which will track my distance (any many other things if I want it to)which will help me push to make that distance goal when I see I only have so much more to go.
I met a friend from work this morning early and put in my three miles. First time running that early. For her too. Amazing what one other person can do to help your training. I noticed when I had to stop and walk at one point, she said she’d run on a bit but would turn around, but I started running again much sooner probably than if I had just been there by myself. Just knowing I was there with a running buddy prompted me to do more than I would have done. Planning a Tuesday run with two more people joining. Haven’t reached my 4 miles yet. It won’t be long though.
I may partner up with a coworker and meet in the early hours before work to run at a local park. She has a friend who may join. This is great since getting my own self up to run at 5:30 am isn’t going to happen, but I can see myself doing it if others are involved that I know. I am excited about this.
This morning i got myself out of bed when the cat woke me to be fed and decided to go run before the sun was up too high. It was a whole different experience from running in the evening. The air was cooler and had a different smell to it, a morning smell, I could hear mourning doves, too early for the cicadas to be singing in the heat.
and the run was enjoyable, not just endurable. I’d do this again. :)
Tonight i ran inside on a treadmill and thought i’d have a great run – since it is air conditioned and i don’t have the heat and humidity to contend with but my energy was blah, i put in my time but alternated walking with the running.
