Bleh
Now I can’t remember exactly when I put this on my 43 things so I’m not sure how much I weighed when I pledged it. Well, I have lost 8kg since January of this year, after piling on pounds in my final year and starting work. Hurrah! Been a lifestyle change, eating healthily and exercising. I can actually RUN now, before I claimed it was physically impossible. I did a 5k a few weeks ago. Want to lose 2kg more ideally.
Been a Dr for 9 months now, actually like getting asked to do cannulas as want to see how difficult it can be!
Wow. This is going to happen. I drew up a proposal and applied to two organisations: Medical Women’s Federation and Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists.
And…
I WON MONEY FROM BOTH!!
So unbelievable. It goes to show you should always try – because you never know! And now my research and truly come into being. Excellent!!
Went to MP’s talk on his diaries at Logan Hall, Institute of Education. The talk was great, as was meeting him at the end. He spent time talking to every single one of us, probably didn’t finish until late into the night. What a nice guy!
Due on 15th May. Getting there. Too long and not deep enough yet. If anyone is bored silly and wants to proof read, let me know. :p
I was prepared to be disappointed… that maybe it would all be hype. But it was fab. Ambience wonderful, beautiful art deco setting. Delicious food. A lovely gazpacho to get the tastebuds going, then foie gras and chicken parfait for starter, spring chicken with ballottine of mushroom for main course, carpaccio of pineapple for dessert. Ending with chocolate ganache in passionfruit cream. Ate the whole pot.
Frustrated after nothing was done when I complained, I went away for 3 weeks and the SHACK HAS GONE! Blissful. Till next time they decide to break in, that is.
I have an evil bunch of children living on the same estate as me. They must be 6-9 years old and they never smile or say Hello, they mainly say fuck and bitch and other obscenities. They are evil, evil kids. Their parents aren’t a lot better, but at least they don’t run around near my house and make lots of noise. They’ve managed to break a lock (yes, really) and get into the area behind the boiler house which is next to our flat. They have created a shelter out of pieces of wood (provided by their parents) and I can hear them banging around, screeching, crying, climbing on top of the boiler house (which is surrounded by anti climb sharp metal – not really working)... Have contacted the council about it, ooh, nearly 2 weeks ago? And the gate HAS NOT BEEN LOCKED UP! I want these kids to GET AWAY from this area near my flat and SHUT THE FUCK UP!!
The reason I couldn’t do this effectively was not because I didn’t want to. Research basically turns you into a hermit and you don’t see anyone and you never go out. I suppose I see my boyfriend nearly every day, and I could compliment him every day but I think most often I do!! I tried my hardest but I could have tried harder. So yes, this is lame… but once I am back in the real world I will try again EVEN HARDER.
I can only hope it’s half as good as my Dad’s. The mushrooms are soaking as we speak. http://chinesefood.about.com/od/cantonesecuisine/r/cantonsteamchix.htm is the kind of thing I am going for.
Ok so a couple of people have come forward. But I would really like to know who you are… just so I can say Hi!
My Dad is from HK and I never learnt as a child as my parents always spoke to each other in English. Now I feel more determined than ever to try and learn cantonese so I can speak with some of my relatives!!
HK was fantastic. I spent a day visiting AIDS organisations with fairly reasonable success. I met a great health education researcher at HKU who bought me lunch and gave me some useful pointers. Quite apart from all that, I had a wonderful time visiting relatives and shopping. I LOVE HK! Wish I could have stayed longer.
I have had the good fortune of being able to visit Hong Kong TOMORROW!! Main purpose is to search out studies for my project, but my Dad is there at the moment, so it will be good for us to see our relatives together and catch up. Also shopping and food will be good :) But ultimately… I must be a good girl and get some good project stuff out of it!
