I’ve applied. Fingers crossed.
and pay attention this time, rather than skimming through it during a three hour bath, the night before a historiography seminar. ‘What war are you talking about, anyway?’
Can’t remember who said it, probably Solzhenitsyn. There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who have read The Brothers Karamazov, those who have not yet read the Brothers Karamazov and those who never will read the Brothers Karamazov. I would venture to add, ‘those who don’t know what the hell the Brothers Karamazov is, nor do they care.’ Wish I were one of them.
But seriously, how many times can you get somewhere in the mid-800 page range and not finish the damn thing? (3 so far)
never was, who’m I kidding? I need a goal I can actually check off. I may be able to get this done by next week! How thrilling.
or a sketch, or an impression, or a line graph. Just whip out the sketchbook and draw something daily.
I keep one … with me, ... every day … try cracking it open and writing in it! yahoo. This all leads back to the moving my stuff from a purse to the backpack, so I have more room for all my stuff. Then my sketch diary and my pencils can accompany me everywhere too. Don’t know that they really need to see the world, but it would be nice if they were there so I COULD cop out and use them daily.
and sit up straight! Pretend your head is a helium balloon rising, rising, rising, off your neck. You’re gloriously tall. Flaunt it.
and for the next few weeks, if you’re not writing your two pages on one book, you can be rereading the old one, so you’ll know where you’ve left off, hoser!
to use its other, sadly neglected half, whichever that may be. When I’m writing with my left hand (mostly a righty) I have to focus on forming letters, connecting letters, keeping my hand off the page (it’s illegible if I don’t use my upper arm to actually do the writing!) ... and the longer you do it the longer it’s like meditating. You are focusing on different things than when you’re righting with your dominant hand. (<--see there, you can’t spell anymore, because the more symbollic side of your brain has fired up) It’s a good break from anything else you’re dealing with! If you can’t meditate, try writing with your other hand.
