Weight loss success, 7 months later 2 years ago
I lost weight and I’ve kept it off. My doctor says this is a good weight and to stay right here—don’t lose more. Here’s what worked for me:
  • Tracking everything I eat (the online version of Weight Watchers has been a great help—if you’re honest and persistent, it works!)
  • Being creative about portion control. I discovered I was putting just too much food on my plate, so I bought fancy smaller plates, just for me. I’m not deprived, I’m special!
  • Having an exercise plan that includes appointments with a trainer or other scheduled activities with other people who will show up even if I don’t feel like it.
  • Acknowledging that this is not a short term project. It’s a life long change.

My only regret (apart from wishing I’d done this sooner) is checking the “willing to help” box on this site. I’ve been spammed. I’ve also been discouraged by the number of people who want a magic answer. The real answer is: move more, eat less. Make the commitment to yourself and find the strategy that works for you.
