What a rush the Royal Gorge class 5 was. I came one toe hold from falling out of the raft on one of the worst (i mean best) stretches. Found out 2 people died on the same river 3 days after I did it, I could see how. Make sure you have an experienced rafting company take you, performance tours were great.

How I did it: I hooked up with a bike touring company that dropped me off at the top of the mountain. It was 20 degrees at the top and I rode through some ice which could have been disastrous around some of the hairpin corners. By the time I reached the bottom it was 70 degrees. From coat and gloves to t-shirt and shorts. The only bad thing was that it wasn't very challenging, in fact I'm pretty sure I didn't peddle once for the… Read how I did it…
That was just plain a ridiculous climb of 2200 feet straight up. Got to the bail out and was about ready to give up but found the energy to finish the climb. That was one of the best feelings ever looking down at what I conquered. I would suggest this to anyone who likes a good adventure and is into extreme hiking.
