After 2 cancellations due to weather my wife and I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane from 13,500 with a 60 second free fall to 5000 feet. Now I am ready to do it again. I need some practice since I botched the landing the first time.

How I did it: I hooked up with a bike touring company that dropped me off at the top of the mountain. It was 20 degrees at the top and I rode through some ice which could have been disastrous around some of the hairpin corners. By the time I reached the bottom it was 70 degrees. For some reason I thought I had to keep pace with the front of the pack for the first half of the race, then my legs turned to gelatine and although I didn’t have to resort to walking, my speed was slowed significantly the end of the race. I ended up with a 24:00 time, which was 2 minutes faster than I did in practice. The next time I run it I will need to pace myself better to finish harder.
