Simon Hastings joined us 4 weeks early. What a surprise! He was born at 8:46PM on Sunday, September 7. Weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces, 20 inches long, he’s a healthy, happy baby. Docs think my due date was off by two weeks, putting him at 38 weeks when delivered. Either way we are enjoying every moment with him.
Most of the time when I look at this goal, I don’t give it much thought. It can seem unbearable at times, but I have to remember that each payment counts.
Right now because I am not working, we are letting my student loans be in deferrment and we are not making payments. It kills me to do this, but really we need our savings to pay my health insurance until I can work again.
We are still paying my the big loan, though, and each time I send out the check I have to remind myself that it’s one more step to being debt-free.
I am in the midst of week 35 and also in the throes of all the child prep classes. Last night, we attended our third childbirth class and tonight we have a newborn care class. They are helpful, but I am finding my mind gets overloaded so quickly!
This week and last week I have been napping more frequently. We’ve had two major heat waves, which have also contributed to my drowsiness. Yesterday morning I managed to get up early when it was still cool and get the seeds sown in the garden. After two hours of squatting, though, I am feeling the consequences today. Luckily, there isn’t much for me to do this afternoon but relax.
I am getting more anxious for our little one to arrive. I am now keeping a daily count-down.
Happy Belated Birthday!
I hope your day was “yours” and you spent every moment as you hoped and wished. May this next year be as progressive and fruitful as this past year. You are inspirational!
My nesting instinct is hard-core. Woke this morning so excited to get baby clothes organized and put away in the new baby dresser. Yay! After searching and searching, I scored an excellent dresser on craigslist.org for $30. Yesterday I washed the baby clothes, we picked up the dresser last night, and today I got everything organized.
Diapers and nursing bras are still on the list. After trying a few stores today for bras I was advised to go to J.C. Penney. I think there might be one in Santa Rosa. Hopefully this weekend we will get that squared away.
Now that we returned from vacation, I am finding the desire to get things in order for baby’s arrival. We received our carseat today and I ordered a changing table. Most things are in place, but I still have diapers to tackle. I hope to accomplish that this weekend. Hubby will sit down with me and we will make sense of it all.
My belly feels so huge and my movement feels more limited each day. I am actually sleeping better the past few nights and it helps not drinking any water after 8pm. Hubby has been rubbing my lower back for a couple of minutes each night and that brings great relief. I am so grateful for his support and understanding. He looks at me with a sympathetic look most days and just says, “Awww… you’re so cute!” That makes me feel good.
visiting parents and so far it’s been okay. Hubby is helping me out a great deal by letting me know when I am picking at my mom or getting conflict brewing. Somehow I have a knack for both those things.
I have had one mini cry session when we first arrived and after that I’ve been doing well going with the flow. Hubby is verbalizing to me some of what he is seeing happening when my parents “over accomodate” and he has told me that it’s starting to make him uncomfortable. I did speak up tonight when a potential conflict situation occurred with my dad and the end result was good. I find that I am more able to speak up and deal with these issues when they arise if I pay attention to what’s happening now. The answer always lies in the present.
but I’m still marking it complete. We were on the fence about building one using the reclaimed wood around here. We just couldn’t find the right pieces nor could we find good branches. The store bought one is perfect and we can’t wait to get some plants planted!
to the rescue! It worked out well that he ended up building it yesterday. He’s been bummed out that I’m home doing all the projects. It’s 7×3 and will work very well. Now we are eyeing a couple of potential locations.
I am feeling the best I have in this pregnancy yet! I’m doing yoga along with strength-training exercises and it’s made all the difference. Yesterday I went to the doctor for my glucose screening and Rhogam shot. My belly measured 27 cm at 28 weeks, so the baby’s growth is within the normal range. A couple more weeks and we will travel to see extended family and have a baby shower. Can’t wait!
What a relief to find someone so loving and kind to animals! We spent a lot of time with her here and it’s great to know we now have a reliable sitter.
I’m all registered and have a substitute teaching card. I hope to get in at least a month of subbing before the baby arrives.
The packet is mostly complete. Today I get my medical exam and county fingerprints. Hopefully I can be done with this next week.
about trying to build boxes with the spare wood around here and then mounting them on the gate at the entrance. Plenty of sun, easy to access. Hmmm…
Materials are here.
Design in done.
Just got to get hubby to help haul over the wood and then I’ll get to work! For now, the indoor system is working beautifully.
and she’s coming to visit next Monday. The rate is doable, she sounds friendly and experienced, and she’s available for the dates we need her. We’ll see how things go when we she visits. We view it as a sort of instictive process anyways. Either we will feel safe around her and trust her right away or not. Hope this works out!
