Baraka is a Olde English Bull Dogge – and it is 10 degrees outside, here in Upstate NY right now. She’s cold. And because I take her everywhere with me – she’s cold, often… running from the house to the car, sitting in the car when I cant bring her in… she’s cold. So I crocheted her a sweater – but it was not warm enough… – Good – but not enough.
Now I have recycled an old down comforter that I’ve been using as a blanket in the car for the dogs – and it now takes the shape of a coat – and it is custom made to fit her… and she likes it.
Its ugly… because it was an old comforter – and because I just cut and sewed – no pattern – just make it work.
I’m thinking now about quilting something up as a cover for the coat – to make it look nicer – but for now – it’ll be much warmer than nothing.

How I did it: Just finally sat down and started doing it. And then found a pattern that I really liked - and sat down and started doing that... until it was done (and I'm wearing them - slippers - now). Read how I did it…
How I did it: There are instructions at Instructables.com which I followed except where I did not... instead of making the stand that is included in the directions, I used a lazy susan - which was just a flat piece of square wood with bearing rollers under it that allows it to spin. I screwed the maple wood X into the center but with only one screw, both pieces moved independently of each other, so I cut another piece of maple 1"x1" and screwed t… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Ebay... I sold it for less than I owed on it - but Its sold... no more storage, no more knowing its just sitting there, no more insurance... inspections.. registrations..done... Just done. Read how I did it…

couple years ago I needed some good strong wood for something or another – and I bought a good length of 1.5” x 1” maple… MAPLE! and then I never got around to doing whatever it was I had planned to do – or more likely, I figured out a different (easier) way to do what I wanted… and so I had this “board” hanging out…
Now I’m all into working with hand spun yarn which comes in hanks instead of skeins – and unraveling it is… well – its just very very easy to tangle.
Making a ball is tedious…
and buying a yarn swift is EXPENSIVE!
So I found a “how to” on Make… and I have recalled that maple – and looking around I found a lazy susan I’ve had for years – because I needed it at one time – but then not again for a LONG time…
so now I need it again!
my Yarn swift is a firm and final idea -
supplies are present and ready
and I’ve begun making it…
If all goes well – it should be done today.
so I’ve learned –
that you can starve yourself on your diet, and be hungry and miserable all day (and technically – really have lost a few calories toward your weight loss goal)... and then in five minutes and one “meal” – all that hunger you put yourself through is for nothing, because you just ate twice as many calories as you need to maintain your weight.
All of those lost calories were found (plus some) – and all that hunger was for nothing.
