How I did it: I really look up to an older female friend of mine whom I used to work for. It took me 7 years to finally say that I admire her (and secretly saying to myself, you are the type of person I want to grow up to be). Mistake: Chatting with “friends” at the workplace about my plans to leave and start something new.
Learning: It will get to the bosses/owners. They will make it uncomfortable and try to force you out earlier. They will cut hours and ask even more co-workers to spy on you behind your back.
Lesson: Don’t gossip about your personal business at work, it will come back to haunt you.
