My girlfriend, Nikki, and I were waiting for my mom to come out of Skyline and it was pouring down rain so we decided go out and dance in the rain. So we ran outside, and started dancing first alone then with each other in the rain. The funny part is, we did this all right in front of a booth full of people eating their dinner. It was hilarious!

I’m 17 years old and my girlfriend is 14 years old. We are 2 years, 11 months, and 16 days apart. We met about 4 years ago at our Aikido (martial arts) school. Over the next year we grew close and became the best of friends. Then in the spring a year after we met we sort-of started dating but while I was away at camp for a month that summer her Dad told her all these terrible things like that I didn’t love her and I just wanted to have sex with her and whole bunch of other bull shit that scared her. So she called me and said she wanted to be best friends instead of boyfriend and girlfriend. I agreed and we went back to being the best of friends. Over the next 6 months we grew even closer than we had been before, developing tons of inside jokes and learning all about each other. Then, on December 18, when I had my 16 birthday party we admitted our love to each other but decided to continue telling everyone else we were still best friends. However, by the end of the next 3 months everyone knew we were a couple by the way we acted around each other and talked about each other. We have now been dating for 1 year and just over 3 months. Though it sounds corny, she is my life and I love her very much. Also, we have been through a lot but we are together despite interference of friends, family, and hormones. A testament to the fact that we are right for each other is that about a month ago we were snowboarding for Valentines Day and she hit her head when she caught an edge giving herself a concussion. She was in the hospital for the next 3 days and the following night when I visited her we were lying in her hospital bed watching a movie at around 10:30pm and she fell asleep in my arms with her head on my chest. When she woke up she didn’t know who I was but she said to me that she felt safe and comforted bye me and did not want me to go, then she hugged me tight and buried her head against me. The fact that the connection between us was so strong that she didn’t know me but knew she was safe in my arms is the most romantic thing I have ever heard. She is how I know that real love is worth it.
